A Gorgeous Pink Faux Floral Arrangement DIY (Under $20)
Learn how to make this beautiful pink faux floral arrangement DIY for under $20!

This past weekend I went to Michael’s in search of acrylic paint and canvases, and the faux florals section stopped me in my tracks- not only were all florals over 50% off, but they had a huge selection of the prettiest faux flowers in my favorite shades of pink, white, light green, and even buttery yellows.
We’re in the beginning of May here outside of Chicago, which means our real roses aren’t in bloom yet, and we’re still wearing our winter jackets on and off (sigh.). As much as I’m a gardener at heart, it’s been on my to-do list to spruce up our home with some pretty faux flower arrangements. Gorgeous blooms + zero maintenance = a big win.
However, some of my favorite faux floral arrangements are quite pricey (like this faux lilac arrangement, this faux poppy arrangement, or this faux rose arrangement). I’m talking hundreds of dollars for one single arrangement- and if you love it you love it, and if you’re willing to splurge, they truly are stunning, but if you’re looking to create a simple faux flower arrangement on a budget then keep reading!
Where To Source Faux Flowers
Faux flower quality can really vary not just store-to-store, but flower-to-flower. I’ve seen faux flowers at Target that are lovely, whereas some I’m not as impressed with. The same goes for places like Michael’s. Some look cheap and others can really pull off a realistic faux flower look.
Remember, any time you look at a flower super up close and personal, it’s going to look a bit fake, because, well, it is. But I think the best test is if you can imagine the flowers in a pretty vase in the center of your dining table, and you’re sitting at the head of the table, would you look at them and think “those flowers are so pretty”. If it’s a “yes” then they’re winners in my book!

These are a few places that tend to have nice faux flowers (both splurges and budget-friendly):
- Afloral
- Bloomist
- Serena and Lily
- Williams Sonoma
- Pottery Barn
- Michael’s
- Target
Pink Rose Faux Floral Arrangement DIY
As I mentioned previously, for this specific arrangement I sourced all of my faux florals from Michael’s. The flowers might not be as realistic as sourcing from somewhere like Afloral, but I think they look pretty darn good! (Especially for the price!!)

I mean, that’s $19 well spent! 😉

A while back I found this gorgeous blue Wedgwood Jasperware vase on FB marketplace, and I’ve been waiting to find the perfect flowers to go with that gorgeous traditional blue and white vase. If you’re also on team Jasperware, these are a few places I like to source them from:
- Wedgwood website (full price, and limited patterns)
- FB Marketplace (where I found mine!)
- Replacements.com (big selection of traditional pieces!)

Now, of course, if you want to keep the arrangement budget-friendly like the actual flowers, you could use a simple glass vase and it’ll still look fabulous! Although I find ceramic white vases, terracotta pots, or these pretty Wedgwood jugs as the perfect vase because I can bend and squish the faux stems inside and not worry about how it’ll appear through the glass.

I knew this traditional blue and white Jasperware jug / vase was calling for a pretty pop of pink and accents of light green and white!
This exact faux pink rose bundle from Michael’s comes with 5 blooms- 4 open blooms and 1 bud (which I love for a more realistic variation), and is currently online for only $5.19 each! For my specific flower arrangement, I bought 3 of these bundles, which ends up equaling 15 blooms for $15.57!

Even in real floral arrangements, I love a good white or light green filler- whether it be Queen Anne’s Lace, big Limelight hydrangeas, or delicate Lily of The Valley. So naturally, I love that variation in a faux floral arrangement too!

This exact faux White Queen Anne’s Lace from Michael’s comes with 6 blooms- 3 smaller blooms and 3 larger blooms (which I love for a more realistic variation), and is currently online for only $1.99 each! For my specific flower arrangement, I bought 2 of these bundles, which ends up equaling 12 blooms for $3.98! (Does ANYTHING cost only $3.98 anymore?!).

And the combination of both pink and green florals together- gorgeous!

A Few Tips And Tricks For Creating A DIY Floral Arrangement

- You can do a simple arrangement with only 2 types of flowers, or simply stick with 1 type of flower! A bunch of peonies, or hydrangeas, or roses (like the pink roses I used!) or ranunculus all look stunning on their own!
- A delicate white or softer green (like the White Queen Anne’s Lace I used in my arrangement) is the perfect complimentary color for most arrangements.
- Consider starting with the vase- sometimes I’ll source a vase I LOVE and then go from there for inspiration. For example, I found my Wedgwood jasperware vase a while back, and when I spotted these faux pink florals I knew it would be perfect for that specific vase.
- Consider using a white vase, or colored vase, (instead of clear glass) so you can really bend and squish the faux stems without worrying how they look.
- Sometimes you need to adjust the stems, leaves, and blooms to give them a more natural rhythm and movement in the arrangement. Teasing out petals, curving stems, or pulling down leaves all help!
- Play with height and variation- I adore a whimsical floral arrangement that plays with height and movement (learn about whimsical floral arrangement tips HERE!) (learn about Pro Floral Designer Tips HERE!)
- Go big. Unless you’re filling a simple bud vase with small blooms, don’t be afraid to really fill up your vase with flowers and go a bit overboard- it really makes such a dramatic impact!
- Have fun with it! Floral arranging is all about creativity and embracing beauty, so if you’re rigid or stressed with your arrangement then you’re missing an important step. Have fun, embrace your inner creativity, and I promise you’ll come up with a beautiful faux floral arrangement you’ll love!
