What Is A Boo Basket?
I thought I knew it all regarding Halloween, but last year my oldest kids opened the door at night and yelled “I got boo’d!” while the other said “we got a boo basket!”. “A boo basket?!” thinks (I’m getting old apparently)-mom….
Well, if you’re new to the boo basket world, a boo basket is a trend where you create a Halloween basket for someone special by filling it with little festive gifts, anonymously leaving it at their door, and then the receiver takes on the challenge by dropping off another boo basket for someone else.
Well, a boo basket for baby is essentially just an adorable basket filled with cute and sweet festive gifts to celebrate their very first Halloween! Plus, how cute is it to say “baby boo basket”?!
Creating A Baby Boo Basket
First, I knew I needed to find a soft baby-friendly basket to house all of the little boo basket gifts. I’m definitely not a minimalist, but when it comes to holiday decor, I try my best to find multi-purpose items like simple canvas bags for trick-or-treating vs. the giant plastic pumpkins. I get overwhelmed thinking of how to store these things in the off season (it must stem from the days of living cramped in an apartment with 2 kids, one baby, and 2 labs). So with SIX kids I try to simplify where I can.
Simple woven rope baskets are perfect for a boo basket for baby because I can easily find a million other uses for the baskets when Halloween’s over (ex: organization, future Easter baskets, etc.).
To give the woven baskets a sweet and simple festive touch, I decided to use these chiffon ribbons to tie bows on each side of the basket. I like how the colors in this set are muted, soft and pretty- perfect to use for other festive fall gifts and decor.
The kids picked out this sweet little bat stuffed animal (which is also super cute to put out each year as Halloween decor), and I always like to gift baby board books for my babies and toddlers. There are so many cute Halloween or fall-seasonal books for littles- I’ll link more at the end!
Adorable pajamas are always a go-to choice for my holiday baskets whether it be for Halloween, Easter, or Christmas. A baby can never have too many cuddly pajamas! Or maybe moms just can’t stop buying adorable cuddly pajamas… either way!
Note: Sometimes I like to buy pajamas for the next holiday coming up so they get more wear-time, or I’ll size up for next year’s size.
Kit’s 9 months old so she’s at the perfect age for little baby puff snacks, teething wafers, and veggie squeeze pouches. And to stay in the Halloween spirit, I found some pumpkin flavored baby snacks to add to her boo basket.
I also threw in a couple bows from this inexpensive set of hair bows that my girls love.
And here’s how her little baby boo basket came together!
I’m loving this cute Halloween tradition, and I’m excited to “boo” my older kids next.

Halloween Baby Boo Basket Ideas
When it comes to Halloween gifts for baby, think sweet and simple! Babies are easy to please when it comes to gifts, and the best part is they’re not old enough yet to enter the madness of Halloween candy (and the crash and burn that comes with eating way to much of it).
So don’t overthink it- pick one, two, or maybe a few cute items for your baby boo basket, and it’ll be so sweet!
And don’t forget to Pin for later!
