For our 6th baby, we decided to try out an Inglesina High Chair (Inglesina My Time). I kinda love it, kinda don’t. While the chair isn’t perfect (and I’ll get to that in a bit), it’s a luxurious high chair that might be worth it for some families. Here is my Ingelsina My Time review. So let’s dive into the details!

Considerations Before Choosing A High Chair
Before researching which high chair to buy, there are definitely some helpful things you should consider! First, think about your priorities- what exactly are the most important features you’re looking for in a high chair? Is it the ability to fold? Is it comfort? Is it ease of mobility from one room to the next? Is it ease of cleaning? (Umm, yes please to the latter. Trust me.)
You’d think choosing a high chair would be easy… somewhere for the baby to sit and eat right? Well, there are SO many high chairs on the market, and they really are vastly different.
For example, some parents really want a high chair that is cozy and can recline so baby can take a nap after feeding. As you know, I’m a mom of 6, and I have never, ever had a baby fall asleep at a high chair! So that criteria is very low on my list. Whereas having a high chair that is easy to clean is a HUGE plus in my book.
These are some factors you might want to consider when choosing a high chair:
- How easy it is to clean (are there crevices crumbs may fall into? Is there a material that needs to be washed in the washing machine? Will it stain?)
- How comfortable it is (Is it plush material? Is it harder wood that may be uncomfortable after a while?)
- How easy it is to move (Does it have wheels/or the option to be moved while baby is eating? Is it light/heavy to lift?)
- How compact it is (Does it have the ability to fold to be stored away? How often will you truly take the effort to store it away?)
- How adjustable the height is (Do you need baby to sit lower/higher given your eating areas?)
- How much space does it take up (Ex: A foldable high chair can even have a very wide footprint with legs that take up a lot of space, however, it will be more compact when stored away vs a high chair that can’t fold up)
- Does it have a foot rest (Some parents want one for a “more comfortable” mealtime)
- How big is the tray (*I actually prefer a smaller tray as it makes it easier to clean, and takes up less space, however, some parents may prefer a larger tray with a designated cup area)
- How high is the tray (*Keep reading, because this is one of my issues with the Inglesina high chair)
- How easy it is to remove the tray (Honestly, don’t even bother with a high chair that requires 2 hands to remove the tray. You definitely want a high chair that can be removed with one hand as your holding your baby!)
- Is there a “safety stopper” (I’m not even sure what to call this, but it’s the piece of material that sticks up from the seat, so the baby won’t fall out as he/she is getting strapped in with the high chair straps- for wiggly babies, I think it’s a must-have!)
Again, every parent has different criteria and living situations that may impact their preferences for a high chair.
Someone with a lot of kids (like me!) may want a high chair that is SUPER EASY to clean, because they’re already tired of cleaning up so much in a day.
Someone who hosts friends often, may want the ability to fold a high chair and put it away after baby goes to bed.
Or someone who cooks a lot (also me) may want a high chair that can be easily moved from the kitchen to the dining table. (I’ve always loved the ability to move a high chair closer to me while I’m cooking, so baby can eat/snack while I cook dinner- such a game changer!)
The Basics Of The Inglesina My Time High Chair
What age range is the Inglesina High Chair made for?
- Use from birth up to 36 months– which is A LONG TIME. (But I will say, especially if your baby has older siblings, they tend to want to be out of the high chair sooner, and sit in a regular chair with a booster at the table with everyone else.)
What are the Inglesina My Time High Chair dimensions and weight?
- Dimensions when open in lowest position from the top of the backrest (without reclining the seat): 30.3″ L x 22″ W x 33.5″ H
- Dimensions when open in highest position from the top of the backrest (without reclining the seat): 30.3″ L x 22″ W x 41.5″ H
- Dimensions when closed: 30.3″ L x 11″ W x 38″ H
- Height of tray in highest position: 34.5″
- Height of tray in lowest position: 26.5″
- Seat dimensions: 11.5″ W x 19″ H
- Weight with tray: 24 lbs.
- Weight without tray: 22 lbs.
Inglesina My Time High Chair Review: Pros and Cons
As I mentioned before, I kinda love this high chair, and kinda don’t. It’s fantastic in certain ways, but it’s not perfect. BUT, I think my gripes with the My Time high chair may not deter someone else interested in the chair. So let’s dive in!
Details I love about the Inglesina High Chair:
- This Inglesina high chair feels and looks like a luxury high chair but is sold for a (somewhat) more affordable price point.
- The My Time Inglesina high chair is made from safe and eco-conscious materials and is BPA-free, lead-free, and phthalates-free
- The leatherette material is SUPER comfortable
- The color options for the Inglesina high chair are beautiful (ours is a very pretty neutral color called “Butter”)
- The leatherette seat can be easily wiped down
- The tray, when not in use, can be stored on the back of the high chair legs (love this!)
- The backrest and footrest can recline to 3 positions
- The seat can be positioned at 4 different heights (This is nice if your baby is sitting near the dining table or counter, where seating heights vary)
- There is a padded footrest with adjustable positions (this is a big luxury for mealtime, making mealtime more comfortable since your child’s legs are never dangling. This might be my favorite feature!)
- The serving tray is dishwasher safe
- Has a “safety stopper” on the seat (for lack of a better word… see above for the picture of what I’m talking about!)
- It is foldable, making it more compact for storage or allowing extra space in your kitchen/dining area
- It is very sturdy and stable– it doesn’t feel like an older toddler sibling could knock it over when they climb on it (but this is also a con- keep reading…)
Details I DON’T love about the Inglesina High Chair:
- First, the legs on the high chair stick out very wide, taking up a large space at the end of our table and entrance into our kitchen. I wish the design of the legs could have had a slimmer profile.
- Even though the serving tray is dishwasher safe, I personally think it’s HUGE! You can’t fit it on the top rack of the dishwasher, and it takes up a lot of space. Even if you hand wash it, it’s just so large to wipe down.
- One of the biggest cons, for me personally, is the lack of movement. I am unable to just push the high chair in or out from the table. I have to lift it when I want to move it- which, who wants to do that?! The high chair isn’t heavy but it would be so much nicer if it had wheels and could glide easier. Like I said before, I love a high chair with wheels so I have the ability to move baby to and from the dining table, to the kitchen when I’m cooking, to the counter to have snack time with older siblings, etc.
- There is a lot of space between the chair and the tray which causes all of the food to fall in between baby and the chair. When baby is eating, he/she can bring both hands down to their sides and a lot of food falls there as well (getting clothes dirty, too). Which leads me to my next con…
- Crevices for food to fall into. Ugh. So this is also one of the biggest cons with the My Time high chair. Even though the leatherette material is such a luxury, it abruptly stops at one point on each side (near where baby’s hands will bring food down on his/her side), creating a crevice that is very tough to properly clean and get food out. I really wish they would re-design this high chair where the leatherette drapes OVER the sides vs an abrupt stop, that way it could be easily wiped down like the rest of the chair.
- The upright position is still in a slight recline, which is a little frustrating if you want baby more upright when eating
- The tray insert makes it possible to get fingers pinched. Okay, this one is a bit hard to explain, but you know when you’re sitting in a comfy chair with arm rests, and you have your arms resting on it, and your hands kind of grip the ends of the arm rest? That’s where babies tend to place their hands once you strap them in the high chair. So as you’re trying to slide the tray into the “point of insertion” (make sense?), baby’s hands could get pinched if you’re not extra careful.
- The tray height is SO HIGH for a young baby. When our baby started eating solids around 6 months or so, it was like she was completely out of place, swimming under this tray! I really feel like the tray height is more appropriate for an older baby, maybe 10-12 months old.
In the image above, you can see how the tray on the Inglesina MyTime high chair is nearly at her mouth! Whereas when we place her in our old high chair (the Boon Flair- more details down below!), she looks perfectly content and at a more appropriate feeding level.
It’s not the end of the world to have to wait for baby to fit better in the chair, but the Inglesina just has an awkward tray height, which could make early feeding days more difficult. Here’s the (sadly, discontinued) Boon Flair:
See the tray just looks so much more comfortable at this height!
Now back to the Inglesina high chair:
Overall, the chair is beautiful and has a ton of great features, especially the super comfortable and luxurious leatherette material, adjustable footrest, beautiful neutral aesthetic, mid-price range, and the removable tray. The leatherette is truly premium quality and wipes clean very easily- so that alone is a big reason to consider getting this high chair! I also think it’s a great option to have at a grandparents house, where it won’t be in use as often, and has the ability to be stored away.
the high chair we loved before this one…
My older 5 kids all used the Boon Flair high chair which I ABSOLUTELY LOVED, but the springs inside the tray broke (on both ours, and the one I kept at my parents house) and couldn’t be fixed. Plus the Boon Flair was discontinued and recalled. A rough-go for the Boon Flair I must say! But, it was pretty perfect- it was insanely easy to clean, it moved around effortlessly, and the high chair was on a pedestal so you never tripped on bulky legs sticking out. The seat was comfortable, the tray was compact, the tray was easy to remove, there were zero crevices for food to get stuck, and it was suitable in tray height for the youngest eaters. I could go on and on, but my point is once you have a high chair you love and have a lot of experience with it, you hold the next high chair to high standards!! Which is why I have my gripes with the Inglesina My Time High Chair-but it is still a very nice high chair!
Other high chairs to consider
I have either owned, tested out, or know families that have been very happy with each of these high chairs:
- Bloom Fresco – Much higher price point, but it really does check all the boxes- super easy to clean, adjustable heights, and can be swiveled on wheels while baby is eating (and is the most similar to the discontinued Boon Flair that I mentioned above that we absolutely loved).
- Inglesina Fast Table Chair– The best compact high chair that attaches to a table or countertop. Inexpensive, foldable and travel-friendly.
- Hiccapop OmniBoost Travel Booster Seat– We own this compact and travel-friendly high chair and love it! It can be folded down easily, comes with a carrying case, has its own small tray, is very inexpensive, and can be attached to a regular chair.
- Peg Perego Siesta– Similar to the Inglesina MyTime, but has wheels and a more expensive pricepoint.
- Maxi-Cosi Minla– Less expensive than the Inglesina My Time, but also very comfortable and compact when folded, and the seat cover is machine washable!
