While on a family trip over winter break, we took our 6 kids to visit Chocolate Kingdom in Orlando Florida, and what a fun experience it was! If you have a sweet tooth and love chocolate, or if you’re looking an indoor activity on a rainy day, keep reading. Here is my honest review of the chocolate factory tour at Chocolate Kingdom.
Let’s dive into the details!
What Is Chocolate Kingdom? And Where Is It Located?
Chocolate Kingdom in Orlando, Florida is a chocolate factory, chocolate shop and chocolate museum that offers guests the option of going on a full chocolate factory tour! I’ll go into more details in a bit, but here you can get a glimpse into how chocolate is made, the history and origins of chocolate, the machinery used to make chocolate, and learn loads of interesting facts about chocolate!
Chocolate Kingdom is located at 9901 Hawaiian Ct. in Orlando, Florida, just about an 8 minute drive north of SeaWorld.

Chocolate Kingdom Tour Basics: Time, Cost, Duration, Ages
While Chocolate Kingdom’s website says “walk-ins welcome” I highly suggest ordering tickets online ahead of time. We went on a Tuesday morning at 11am in early January, as a party of 10, and the tour was just at capacity. I’d imagine on a weekend or even a rainy day (since this would be a GREAT rainy day activity to do with kids in Orlando!), the chocolate tours probably fill up rather quickly. Here is a bit more info about the factory adventure tour times, tour ticket prices, the duration of the tour, as well as suggested ages:
Factory Adventure Tour Times:
When planning a visit to Chocolate Kingdom in Orlando Florida be sure to check online ahead of time to see when their tour hours are, as times can change, but typically tours are hourly from noon until 4pm. Since our family visited Chocolate Kingdom in early January, they still had extended holiday hours, 11am-4pm, so we snatched that 11am factory adventure tour time, and it ended up being perfect for our 6 young kids- no one was overtired or missing naps, and we still had the rest of the day to spend at the resort pool! (And snack on plenty of chocolate, of course).
Tour Ticket Prices:
At the time of our visit to Chocolate Kingdom, tour tickets were around $22 per adult and $17 per child, ages 4-12. And all things considered, I’d consider this to be pretty reasonable cost-wise, especially given how expensive many other kid-friendly places cost in Orlando. Plus, it’s nice that they don’t charge the littlest guests- kids ages 3 and under are free!
*You will have to pay extra if you want to make your own chocolate bar at the end of the tour- and trust me, you do! For about $9 each, you can customize your very own 7oz chocolate bar. I’ll explain more details below.
Tour Duration:
The adventure tour lasts approximately 45 minutes, but I’d say plan for an hour, because at the end of the chocolate tour there is an opportunity to customize your very own chocolate bar, and depending on where you fall in this line, it could take a bit extra time. But it’s worth the wait! Our kids loved this part of the tour and are still talking about it post-vacation. Plus, you’ll want a few minutes at the end to visit the chocolate shop.
Suggested Ages:
Especially since we have 6 kids, ages 10 down to 11 months, I really appreciate an activity that’s great for all ages– and the Chocolate Kingdom tour fit the bill! We lucked out and had a fantastic tour guide (thanks, Jorge!) whose enthusiasm really kept the kids engaged and interested. But if you have a squirmy toddler or fussy baby, it might be a bit tough for them to keep it together for the full 45 minutes. However, it’s so kid-friendly, that I wouldn’t let that deter you.
(We also brought our stroller through the tour in case our littlest ones needed to take a seat, which I’d recommend because majority of the tour you’re standing).
Chocolate Kingdom Orlando Honest Review
All About The Chocolate Kingdom Factory Tour & Museum
The chocolate tour begins in a room with rows of benches where families/guests gather to hear a little introduction and to watch a kid-friendly animated video introducing a storyline with a prince, a dragon, a princess, and why they need to go on this “quest” to make chocolate. A quick introduction, it sets the storyline for the kids, and on to the tour you go.
Without giving away too many details, I absolutely loved how informative the tour was. You learn so much information about cacao beans, the history of chocolate, the machinery used, and much more. The tour guide asks great questions that get kids thinking (and adults), and you leave the tour with a wealth of knowledge about chocolate.
Guests get to see a Cacao Tree greenhouse, a chocolate castle display with a river of chocolate, and a 100 year old Melangeur machine (the machine used to make chocolate 😉 ). Along the way are tasty chocolate samples, as well as a stop in an interactive room for the kids where they get to catapult marshmallows into a dragons mouth! Side note- I loved how the tour guide just kept dishing out marshmallows to launch, it wasn’t just a “one chance and you’re done”… the kids had fun for a solid 5 minutes or so launching marshmallow after marshmallow. (Thanks again, Jorge!).
Toward the end of the tour were unique chocolate museum creations like life-size dresses made of chocolate wrappers. Super cool!
And one of the BEST parts of the tour was the experience to customize your very own 7oz chocolate bar. Each person who wants to participate (remember, it’s an added fee, but well worth it), fills out a form to say whether they want milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or white chocolate. From there you get to choose 3 ingredients that they will put into your chocolate of choice. There are 17 ingredient options, some of which are caramel, pretzels, marshmallows, almonds, m&ms, mint chips, and cranberries.
You get to watch them behind the glass spread chocolate into the chocolate bar mold, add your 3 ingredients, cover it, and ship it on a little “conveyor belt” type journey where you receive it once it’s cooled and ready to enjoy.
The bars are HUGE! So yes you’re paying $9 for a bar of chocolate, but the experience, the customization, and the size (plus the memories!), make it worthwhile. I would hands-down do it again the next time we travel to Orlando.
All About the Chocolate Kingdom Chocolate Shop
Who doesn’t love a good chocolate shop?? The Chocolate Kingdom chocolate shop sure delivers with chocolate covered marshmallows, chocolate covered coconut clusters, alligator shaped chocolate (we are in Florida after all), truffles in flavors of orange, mint, coffee, and so much more! We surely stocked up, and everything was delicious.
Is There Anything We Didn’t Like?
The exterior of the building is nothing special (so don’t expect a quaint little chocolate cafe from the outside), and the little animated video they play during the tour is a tad cheesy- but the video does give a little storyline for the younger kids prior to the tour, so it’s fine!… But honestly, that’s it!
Events At Chocolate Kingdom
Although we didn’t do any of these experiences, I thought it was so fun that they offer a wine and chocolate pairing event for adults, a chocolate fountain party event for teens, and a hands-on chocolate making experience for kids and adults. At the chocolate event rentals you can mold a chocolate shape, dip and decorate a marshmallow or pretzel, and learn how to write with chocolate on your chocolate creation. Such a great birthday party idea!
Is Chocolate Kingdom in Orlando Florida Worth It?
YES! If you’re lucky enough to get a great tour guide, you will have such a fun experience, learn so much about chocolate, and will love the samples along the tour. The opportunity to customize a chocolate bar is so fun and surely a memorable experience for the kids. The day we went on the tour happened to be our daughter’s 9th birthday, and she kept saying she LOVED it. So if you have kids, definitely consider doing the tour at Chocolate Kingdom in Orlando Florida when you’re in the area!
