Easy Fall Decorations To Try This Autumn
Let’s start with the most classic fall decor: pumpkins! Nothing says “It’s Fall Y’all!” more than our garden-grown friend, pumpkins. There are 1001 ways to style pumpkins, but for the sake of keeping things easy and simple, here are a few favorite ways to add pumpkin decor outside and inside the home.
Pumpkins In A Cake Dome / Cloche
This simple fall decor idea takes the cake! Although missing the literal cake, a cake dome (also known as a cloche) is the perfect way to display mini pumpkins. You can pop this on a kitchen counter, on the dining table, on a buffet/sideboard, coffee table, or entryway table, and it’s a classy fall decor idea that takes only a couple pumpkins to make it look adorable and festive for the autumn season.
TIPS:
A group of 3 pumpkins looks darling, and try some slight variations in size and/or color.
If you have young kids, use an UNBREAKABLE cake dome like mine found HERE.
This fall pumpkin styling idea is simple, cheap, easy, kidproof (if you buy the unbreakable acrylic dome!), and there’s no right or wrong way to do it!
Stacked Pumpkins
We’ve all seen the classic big round pumpkin on the front porch or front steps, but have you ever seen these flattened pumpkins? They’re perfect for stacked pumpkins! They’re often times found in the “heirloom pumpkin” section, but you can sometimes find them in the classic bold orange pumpkin color/variety too.
Simply adding 3 stacked pumpkins near a planter, or on your front steps, makes such a statement, and is so cute! I love the muted pumpkin colors of the heirloom pumpkins- creams or whites, soft muted greens, and soft salmon-orange… so pretty!
Can you believe these gorgeous pumpkins were super cheap and from Trader Joe’s?!
Pumpkins By Outdoor Planters
Adding pumpkins and ornamental kale by outdoor planters is one of the easiest outdoor fall decor ideas that instantly makes your front porch or entry feel like autumn. These fluted white planters and woven lanterns, (which tend to feel more summery), were styled with gorgeous pumpkins and ornamental kale, and it transitions seamlessly into fall.
Plus, boxwood looks great through every season!
As you can see, you don’t even need to make a seasonal change to your planters, especially if you have something versatile like boxwood. Just by adding a few large pumpkins in front of the planters adds a whole new seasonal touch! I love the mix of colors and texture with these three pumpkins seen above.

Add Mini Pumpkins Along Your Garden Path or Driveway
Mini pumpkins, and baking pumpkins, are very inexpensive and easy to find throughout the fall season! From big box stores, to grocery stores, to local pumpkin patches or garden centers, or even in your own garden (if you grow them!).
By lining your front path, driveway, or garden path in mini pumpkins, it’s such an easy and inexpensive way to incorporate some gorgeous fall decor outside.
TIP:
Try adding varying shapes, sizes and colors and cluster them together! (Add a few gourds, too!)
I love the look of these white pumpkins surrounding pops of orange pumpkins.
DIY Painted Pumpkins
Buying ceramic hand painted white pumpkins can be really pricey, but DIY painted pumpkins are one of the cheapest DIY fall decor projects that make a big statement! You can use extra paint you have lying around the house, or a super inexpensive craft paint like the one I used to paint my pumpkins white and green.
(*Read about my DIY painted pumpkin post HERE!)
You can keep your painted pumpkin designs simple by doing stripes, polka dots, or solid colors like white with a gold stem. Be creative with it!
Painted pumpkins can be great indoor fall decor OR outdoor fall decor, especially when on display like on this etagere. (I mean- how stinkin’ cute is this etagere?).
It’s also such an easy way to get the beautiful look of white pumpkins, even if all you can find are bright orange pumpkins. With a little inexpensive paint, you can quickly get a sea of gorgeous white pumpkins!
Plus, white pumpkins really pop in a pool of golden fall leaves!
A gorgeous pumpkin display can look stunning in front of a fence, on the front porch, or nestled in the garden. On a fireplace mantle, kitchen table, or entry table- it can look lovely indoors too!
Add Lots and Lots of Pumpkins
Although this looks like it could be professionally designed, it couldn’t be easier to pull off! (Pumpkin-styling-wise). Adding a whole bunch of large pumpkins to your front steps (or front porch or even driveway), can make a HUGE fall statement.
Try varying sizes, shapes, and colors, bunch them all together, and I promise they’ll look great! I cannot promise it will be easy to lug those massive pumpkins on your own, so get the wheel barrow, or a friend, or stick to more manageable sized pumpkins.
You can find large inexpensive pumpkins at local farms and pumpkin patches, or even places like Costco. Now you don’t need to buy 70 pumpkins, but even buying 7 large pumpkins, grouping them together while lining your front steps, will give you a similar look for less.
Minimalist Pumpkin Displays
If you’re not ready to “go big or go home” with pumpkins, keep it sweet and simple! Adding a few mini pumpkins on a fireplace mantle, side table, or coffee table, is such a sweet and minimalist approach to decorate for fall.
Add Fall Florals (Or Plant A Fall Garden)
From golden sunflowers to orange mums, there are so many gorgeous flowers in a fall garden. An easy way to add decor for the season is to create an outdoor fall planter or indoor fall floral arrangement.
TIP: And if you plan ahead, you can save so much money be growing these flowers in your own garden and cutting them to create your own DIY fall flower arrangements!

Some plants are particularly cold-hardy and can last well through the fall like ornamental kale/cabbage and mums!
Bring Out The Halloween Decor
If you’re ready to bring out the Halloween decor, it’s also an easy way to decorate for fall! And if you’re decorating for fall on a budget, you can reuse many of the decorations from the year before.
Bats On The Wall
I love these simple bats on the wall:
Spooky, yet kind of classy (as far as Halloween decor is concerned), and couldn’t be easier to tape on the wall. (Similar set found here.)
Topiary Witch
I LOVE an adorable topiary witch!
By popping on a witch hat and wrapping a cloak around the topiary, you get the cutest topiary halloween decor!
Mini Ghost Lights
These sweet little ghost lights are too adorable, and would look so cute along a fence, front path, or driveway (plus, this specific set is solar powered!).
Floating Witch Hats and Candles
And one of my absolute favorite easy fall decor ideas that looks incredible for fall/Halloween is the hanging witch hats and floating candles!
