Why You’ll Love Garden Themed Christmas Ornaments
If you’ve been a visitor here at any point in time, you know that it’s no secret that I love gardening. I could go on and on about how gardening is just so good for the soul- from the creative elements of designing a garden layout, to the grounding feeling of getting your hands dirty in soil, to the physical release of digging a hole into the earth, to the satisfaction of watching your blooms emerge. There’s a reason gardening is a timeless hobby for both young and old. Plus, there’s such a classic beauty of a summer garden or spring garden, that just makes our hearts happy! And I love that we can honor that passion during the holiday season with adorable garden themed ornaments!
These are just a few reasons you’ll love gardener Christmas ornaments:
- Classic and Timeless Decor- Decorating with garden inspired holiday ornaments is not a trend that will come and go, it’s truly timeless. A vintage watering can ornament can be an ornament that looks like your grandmother’s, one that she might’ve used in her garden, or one picked out by your toddler that loves to spend time with mama gardening!
- Versatile– Just because you’re adding gardener ornaments to your tree doesn’t mean it has to be a full garden themed Christmas tree (although that would look fantastic!)- ornaments can intertwine with each other, and classic pieces like a gardening gloves ornament or a bumble bee ornament can easily be placed alongside non-garden themed pieces. (And glass ornaments can mix with other materials too).
- Easy To Find– You no longer need to shop small artisan shops to find a pretty handmade ornament. In fact, Amazon has a HUGE selection of one of my absolute favorite classic ornament brands: Old World Christmas (I’ve linked MANY below!). This is the same high quality brand of ornaments that I find in high-end shops, and they’re easy to find online too (as long as they don’t sell out!).
- Childhood Memories- Nostalgic Christmas ornaments are filled with childhood memories for the holiday season- and although it might not be a classic Santa on a sleigh, garden ornaments have that touch of nostalgia too. If you had family or a neighbor that gardened when you were a child, I’m sure it’s a special memory.
- Meaningful Gifts– Often, classic Christmas ornaments have been passed down from friends and family, but they’re also a great gift to give! Many people like having their own style for other holiday decorations throughout their home, whether it be a Christmas village, or decorations on the fireplace mantle, but Christmas tree ornaments that have that nostalgic touch and a special meaning are more welcomed as a meaningful gift. (And it really can be the perfect gift for the holidays!). Even if the ornament doesn’t signify the holidays per se, (like gardener Christmas ornaments) it could be a nostalgic way to represent a loved one (a grandma that loved peonies), a hobby (a beautiful greenhouse ornament), or childhood garden favorites (such as a bumble bee ornament or butterfly ornament- so cute!). It’s also such a sweet birthday gift for a garden lover whose birthday is during the holiday season! And you could consider a personalized ornament for an extra special touch.
- Embrace The Holidays– Although we think of Spring, Summer and Fall for the main gardening seasons (especially if you live up north in chilly Zone 6a Chicago suburbs like us!), we can still incorporate garden inspired holiday decor during this festive season with pretty garden blooms on our Christmas cards or adding a pretty red ribbon to garden themed ornaments.
